A landmark building designed by world-famous architect Will Alsop, The Public is a bold new centre for creativity and innovation and one of the first major regeneration initiatives in West Bromwich Town Centre.
Opened in June 2008, it houses a unique, entirely participatory art gallery showcasing an exciting selection of art from local, national and international artists.
With a 300 plus capacity theatre, space for media and recording production facilities, two café bars and conference, exhibition and event space; the building also offers an unparalleled new location in West Bromwich for creative businesses, events and exhibitions.
Learning and originality will be championed through the provision of inspirational community spaces, bringing local people closer to the arts and the digital world. An extensive education scheme developed in collaboration with over 100 local primary and secondary schools, will also be delivered as part of an ongoing programme.
The Public will provide a new creative hub and social centre and act as a catalyst for further change in the area by bringing jobs and vitality to West Bromwich.
