EDUCATION
High quality, modern, contemporary educational environments – that’s what we will bring to West Bromwich and the surrounding area.
Over £400 million worth of investment has been secured to revive educational facilities within the Borough. This is being done through the Building Schools for the Future Programme, which is led by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council as well as the Sandwell Academies.
Leading the way in design excellence is the newly planned Sandwell College, a £80 million, 250,000 sq ft state of the art Further Education College situated in the heart of West Bromwich. The new college has excellent transport links, located adjacent to the metroline and bus station and its design is set to change the skyline of West Bromwich.
Sandwell College is one of the largest Further Education Colleges in the West Midlands with over 10,300 students and they deserve the best. With the provision of a great college we will encourage further learning and can ensure that future generations will have a strong base on which to grow and raise standards, boosting educational and skills achievements.
The exceptional public realm will complement the college, link it to the adjacent metro station and the new Town Centre and provide a safe and vibrant environment for students to take pride in.
Val Bailey, Principal of Sandwell College said:
“Education levels in Sandwell are currently below the national average but with the new college I am convinced that educational attainment levels will rise within the Borough.
“There are numerous examples elsewhere in the country where the development of a new college has raised the skill levels within the area, helping to grow the local economy significantly. We are looking forward to seeing this happen in Sandwell.”
