Our Locality

Sandwell is a large, multi-cultural, metropolitan borough which lies at the heart of the West Midlands with a population of around 300,000. It is situated between the cities of Birmingham and Wolverhampton and the districts of Dudley and Walsall. Sandwell includes the towns of Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Tipton, Wednesbury, Smethwick and West Bromwich and benefits from excellent transport links via the motorway network, mainline trains and metro.

Sandwell is steeped in heritage and there are plenty of parks and areas of green space, including the historic Sandwell Valley, one of the largest areas of urban green space in the West Midlands. Once the site of Stone Age occupation, it is now a popular attraction offering 2,300 acres of woodland, nature trails, golf courses and water activity areas.

The Borough has an array of leisure and community opportunities providing a range of arts, sports, social and general interest activities, for all age groups. West Bromwich town centre is the main shopping area, soon to be redeveloped to offer a wider range of retail and leisure facilities.
